Once you have booked Arrol House we will supply you with a useful guide to the house, the island, how to get food delivered and suggestions to make your time here even more fun.
Of course .. We love our four pawed friends. We dont charge for them either! All we ask is that they treat the house with respect and follow the dog rules set out in our Terms and Conditions.
We have 5 bedrooms in total –
Bedroom 1 is a very large room with a double bed and a single bed.
Bedroom 2 is a very large room with a king sized bed.
Bedroom 3 is a large room with a super king sized bed.
Bedroom 4 is a twin beded room.
Bedroom 5 is a twin beded room.
The Snug has a sofa bed which is ideal for 1 adult.
In total the house can sleep 12.
The three large bedrooms can take additional camp beds if required to accomodate small children. We have one cot in the house which is in bedroom 3 but could be moved to another room if required.
So not to put pressure on the house water supply we do try to cap the numbers to 12, however in special circumstance we can accomodate more, it all depends on the configuration of the people who are staying, family or friends, ages, number of children and can they share rooms.
Please email Dougie or call 07967 566041 to discuss any requirements you may have.
We would kindly request you vacate the house by 10.00am on the day of departure.
We will provide a small basket of logs for the stove. Additional logs or coal can be purchased from the village shop.
There is underground heating throughout the ground floor along with a large amount of solar gain through the windows, so the house is very cosy.
We would recommend only using the fire really during the colder months of the year.
As soon as you arrive on the island you will be able to enter the house straight off the ferry.
The house will be open for you for no need to collect keys from anywhere.
Come in and make yourself welcome.

Walks – You could spend 2 weeks here and still not cover all of the beaches and the coastline. In our guide for our guests we have collated a list of walks varying in length, views and difficulty.
Boogie boarding – We have 2 boogie boards and 2 beach skimmer boards ready for you at the house. We would suggest you bring wetsuits if your spending time in the water.
Basking Shark Tours – Basking Shark Scotland operate from Coll during the summer months. Book up early and swim with these magical beasts.
Dark Sky Status – Coll is only the 2nd island in the UK to be awarded this accolade. Look out for the northern lights, shooting stars, satellites and all the amazing constellations. With no street lights on the island to create light pollution it makes the perfect location to star gaze.
Wildilfe and photography- The Isle of Coll has hundreds of seals and we have been fortunate enough to see Sea Eagles, Minkie & Finn whales, Dolphins, Sea Otters, Corncrakes and many other interesting birds and animals
Community Centre – Every Saturday there is a the local market. There is a gym and games hall which can be hired for badminton and other sports.
Golf – There is a 9 hole par 3 course. It is ‘testing’ in all senses of the word. Do not expect the quality of the greens to be like Augusta, but it does probably have some of the best views of any course in Scotland. You only need a few clubs 5,7,9,PW and a putter (anything less than 1M is a gimmee).
Sailing – Coll has its own selection of modern dinghys which can be hired on sailing nights.
There are 2 options to getting to the island.
The first and most common way is by ferry – Calmac.
Calmac run a daily service throughout the summer with 2 trips on a Saturday. We would highly recommend you book the ferry as soon as possible due to the high demand in the summer.
Passenger tickets can only be purchased at the terminal in Oban.
The second option is by air.
Hebridean Air fly to the island around 3 times a week. To check availability and flight times please check online. The island airport is a short walking distance from Arrol House.
Yes they do … here is the process.

The house is located on the west end of the island where there are four beaches within easy walking distance.
Crossapol beach which is 2km long and Feall which is 1.5km long are set within one of the RSPB reserves. They are both horseshoe in shape and back directly onto each other.
Keep walking along either of the above beaches and you will come to Gunna sound, it is stunning. It is the nearest part of the island before you get to Tiree. Shallow emerald green waters and white sands, on a sunny day it will take your breath away.
Breachacha Bay lies next to the castles and is visible from the house. Some stunning coastal walks in either direction from this point.
Ballyhaugh is a dramatic beach with huge rollers coming in from the Atlantic, even on calm days. Beware as there are bad tidal rips on this beach and swimming or surfing is not recommended.
